About Us
Social Identity Research gathers a group of social and humanistic scholars, researchers, and practitioners with a common interest in studying social identity. The goal of the organisation is to provide a free venue for thinking, searching, networking, writing, and publishing, and forming joint interdisciplinary research connections to improve the quality and scope of social identity studies. Coming from the academic, independent researchers, and NGO sector the members can approach social identity issues from the standpoints of their various disciplines and abilities, thus providing an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary input to improve the analytical value of their studies, community outreach projects, and teaching.
The Social Identity Research is a non-profit organisation, directed at the applicable social, and cultural scientific studying of the influences of the various factors of the identity building, from which pedagogic, social work, politics could benefit from actionable results. For those purposes, we are placing the most significance on researching cultural origins and identity development. Here we include the scope of geographical and cultural origin, socio-cultural and socio-economic background, gender, sexualities, education, family, peer groups, migration history, media usage, and other forms of social belonging etc. The goal of the organisation is to prepare research projects that are scientific, actionable, and relevant for praxis, and funded through donations or funded research contracts.
